Beginning Firday, July 17th, WELY will be providing an on air update at the top of each hour (:00). We will also update this page when as information is made available.

Evacuation Zones

CAMP FIRE 4,175 acres

As of 2:22pm 7/18/26

A Go status evacuation has been issued for Zone SL-211, which is an upgrade from its previous set status.

A Set status evacuation has been issued for Zone SL-210, which is an upgrade from its previous ready status.

Ready status evacuations have been issued for Zones SL-300, SL-301, SL-311, SL-322, and SL-340.

The City of Winton and the north side of Burntside Lake are included in the “ready zone.” This is due to changing winds that could move fires in that direction.

Evacuation Locations

Ledgerock Community Church 1515 E. on Camp Street in Ely is open as a temporary evacuee shelter. You are able to spend the night. There is no kitchen but there is water and snacks. Space is limited. Call them if you have any questions at 218-365-4890.

Public Shelter has been established at the Babbitt Municipal Center 71 South Dr, Babbitt, MN 55706. This location will close nightly.

Refuge from heat

• Grace Lutheran Church 301 E. Conan Street Ely (cool place to stay overnight)
• Ely Historic State Theater – opened the side rooms for tables and games etc
